Several interesting events are scheduled for the upcoming weeks at the Medical Center.

Mass faculty to help understand HIV structural changes
Dr. Maria Duenas-Decamp, assistant professor of molecular medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester, will present the Microbiology and Immunology Seminar, "Understanding the Structural Changes in HIV-1 Trimer and Their Effects on Tropism and Vaccine Development," at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, in room 4A.

Postdoc researcher to map post-heart attack phenotypes
Dr. Alan Mouton, postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, will present "Using Transcriptomics to Map Post-myocardial Infarction Cellular Remodeling Phenotypes" from noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.

Higher ed commish's listening tour to stop at UMMC
Dr. Al Rankins, commissioner of higher education, will meet with UMMC campus constituents as part of the Commissioner's Learning Tour at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, in lecture hall 122 of the medical education building.

Baylor faculty to offer therapeutic approach to obesity
Dr. Salim S. Virani, associate professor and director of the Cardiology Fellowship Training Program in the Division of Atherosclerosis and Vascular Medicine, Cardiovascular Research, Department of Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, will give the Grand Rounds presentation, “Interdisciplinary Therapeutic Approach to Severe Obesity,” at noon on Thursday, July 26, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.
The presentation is sponsored by the Mississippi Center for Obesity Research, the Mississippi Center for Clinical and Translational Research and the Cardiorenal and Metabolic Diseases Research Center.
